At the heart of the South Devon Railway, which runs from Buckfastleigh to Totnes Riverside, on the southern fringes of Dartmoor, is a delightful 14-mile return steam train journey along the delightful valley of the River Dart. It is beautiful.

Your GWR steam train takes you on a leisurelly ride in comfort through some of Devon's most peaceful countryside. Keep a look out for the abundance of wildlife and the hidden scenery, which changes with every season, as the train hugs the river for most of your trip.

There is plenty for all the family and all ages. At Buckfastleigh, with its large car park, there is a riverside walk and picnic area, children's play area, award-winning gardens, museum and a well-stocked shop and the Refreshment Rooms. On some days, you may also find the miniature railway in operation. Totnes Riverside is a 20 minute or so walk to the mediaeval town of Totnes.

With these, you can ride on the train ans also visit Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies next to our station at Buckfastleigh and/or the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, adjacent to Totnes Riverside station.
