Your Guide on Where to Find Devon’s Best Street Food This Year

Street food is taking over! If you’re a food lover, there’s no doubt by now that you have a list of your favourite food trucks and street food traders, to go along with your favourite chefs, restaurants and recipes. This means you’ll constantly be checking social media to try and keep up to date with what traders are doing and where they’ll be.

That’s one great thing about street food; it’s constantly on the move, so you don’t have to travel to just one location for some of the best eats around; you can get them at your favourite events all over Devon. Street food now plays an integral role in the success of many of these events, with some attendees just coming to see the great food on offer. Here’s a list of some of Devon’s best events featuring street food, as well as some regular spots where you can catch weekly or monthly street food markets.

Monthly and Weekly Events

North Devon Street Food - Weekly Thursdays on Barnstaple Square with 3 or 4 traders including Cracking Nuts, Pig & Olive, Cafe Brazil and Carne Catering.

Barnstaple Real Food Market - 2nd Sunday of every month in Barnstaple Pannier Market. with street food traders, food producers and gourmet treats from Calaca Loca, Red Dog Bakery and Quiet Waters ‘Smoke and Fire.’

Exeter Street Food - Regular markets on the Quay every 1st Thursday, at the Piazza every 3rd Thursday and at Southernhay gardens the last Friday of the month. Saturday and Sunday in the city coming back soon with Queen Street Dining. Traders such as Dan’s American Kitchen and Two Coast County.

Electric Nights - 1st Saturday of every month until September at Tiverton Pannier Market. A very popular event featuring Seasonal Samosas, Posh Kebab Company and many more.

July

Sky Bar Croyde - 14-16 July - Pop Up Bar, Eats and Beats. Street food, including Lola’s Wings, with banqueting tables and stunning views from these pop up night event venues.

Pilton Green Man - 16 July - Thousands hit the streets for a unique celebration in the heart of Pilton. You’ll find it hard not find something you fancy here, with a whole load of traders, from Cafe Brazil to Monty’s Caribbean Kitchen and Calaca Loca to Lola’s Wings.

North Devon Street Food Awards - 16 July - The awards event, hosted at Ilfracombe Harbour, is where the best dishes from North Devon based street food traders are chosen.

Devon Street Food Festival - 29-31 July - Local, regional and national traders including Seasonal Samosas and Kurbside Kitchen.

Featured Event - North Devon Street Food - Street food lovers of North Devon can finally be satisfied now that a regular street food market has hit Barnstaple Square on Thursday evenings between 5-9pm. Cafe Brazil and Carne Catering are regulars at this spot with others, such as Get Your Wedge On and Pig & Olive’s new pizza oven also there some weeks.

Croyde Beer Festival - 12-14 August - A family beer festival with great local bands, right next to the beach. Food from Gratton’s hog roast and Lola’s Wings.

September

Nourish Festival - 3 September - Bovey Tracey’s festival of music, craft and food with traders such as the award winning Seadog, The Cauldron, Big Pot Kitchen and Good Game.

Clovelly Lobster and Crab Fest - 4 September - A celebration of Clovelly’s famous crab and lobster which are sustainably caught by local fishermen. The Glorious Oyster and Seadog will be there with some of best street food fish dishes around.

Sky Bar Exeter - 15-17 September - Pop Up Bar, Eats and Beats with street food on call to help you party the night away.

Plymouth Seafood Festival - 24-25 September - A celebration of the city’s best seafood, sure to be a hit in the first city in the world to be awarded Fish2Fork Blue City Status.

Featured Event- Powderham Food Festival 1-2 October Fabulous food festival set at Devon’s most beautiful castle. It’s autumn so there will be lots of apples and pumpkins, smoke and fire - and lots of Powderham beef and venison. The Theatre of Fire ’n Smoke is back by public demand with BBQ boys - Marcus Bawdon, Simon “Womble” Dyer & John Gower cooking up some smoky goodness and demonstrating skills. There are rumours of a couple of other BBQ stars flying in to join them. Lots of fiery, finger licking fun, local ales and ciders, music too.

North Devon Food Festival – 16 October – A food festival in Barnstaple with sumptuous smells, colourful cooking, and tantalising new tastes from Big Pot Kitchen, Seadog and Cracking Nuts.

Dartmouth Food Festival - 21-23 October - Workshops, tastings and demonstrations from over 120 handpicked exhibitors including Pipers Farm.
