Welcome to Dartmoor National Park – one of Britain's Breathing Spaces, and a member of the 15-strong National Park family.Covering an area of 368 square miles, Dartmoor is the largest and wildest area of open country in Southern England but it is much more than that.

Dartmoor National Park Authority operates three Visitor Centres, which are excellent places to start your Dartmoor journey. For details on each Centre, their exhibitions and opening times please see the Visitor Centre pages. This includes the National Park Visitor Centre - Princetown. Newly refurbished it features new and exciting exhibitions, displays and discovery zones and a stunning photography exhibition, 'Dartmoor Timelapse'. Admission to all the Centres and exhibitions are free.

Dartmoor - the film location
January 2012 saw the release of the Spielberg blockbuster,Warhorse, Dartmoor was chosen for its stunning light and landscape and you can enjoy the areas that so captivated the Hollywood Legend by visiting the areas listed on the dedicated Warhorse page. Dartmoor - the active choice
Whilst many people come to Dartmoor to enjoy the beautiful scenery and to recharge their batteries, many come to get active! With over 450 miles (730km) of public rights of way, there is an abundance of walking routes to suit all tastes and abilities. Dartmoor also boasts a variety of cycle routes, both on and off road, making it as challenging as you want it. And there is also the small matter of horse-riding, climbing, letterboxing, geo-caching or kayaking.
