The northern coast of Devon is full of delights. Whether you are looking for a destination for your holiday or just somewhere to escape for a couple of hours, this area has it all.

North Devon National Trust looks after several stunning places; whether you are looking for hidden valleys to stunning coasts, you'll find all of that and much, much more.

In West Exmoor, our properties include Watersmeet, a dramatic river gorge, ancient woodlands, with a seasonal tea garden and shop in stunning surroundings and the Heddon Valley, with towering cliffs, coves and a wooded valley all within Exmoor National Park.

Following the coastline to the west you'll get to Mortehoe, gateway to a wild, remote coast with a rich history of wrecking and smuggling, and Woolacombe, with its spectacular coastline of cliff, coves, beaches, dunes and headlands. Nearby you'll find Baggy Point, the impressive headland at Croyde with crashing waves and dramatic cliffs.

Further along the coast you'll find Bideford Bay and Hartland, miles of unspoilt coastline that inspired Rudyard Kipling. Venture inland and you'll find Dunsland, a grand Parkland abundant in wildlife and with over 900 years of history.

There's so much to see and do - where will you start?

Bucks Mills Cabin - Artists in Residence Open Days 2020 - Saturday 25 July 2020

Each year, we invite artists to use Bucks Mills cabin for a period of time to take advantage of the wonderful light and beautiful scenery.

This is a rare opportunity to see inside this tiny artists retreat which has been left largely untouched since the 1970's. Last used by renowned artists Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards, the cabin is exactly as they left it over 40 years ago and remains a hidden gem in the pretty coastal village of Bucks Mills. Meet with the current artist in residence and learn about how they've been inspired by this artistic heritage.

The Cabin is open between 10am - 3pm as is located on the slipway down to the beach at Bucks Mills. Parking is available at the top of the village. Bucks Mills is located off the A39, between Peppercombe and Clovelly.
Please be aware there are steps down into cabin, and into upper floor of the building. Unfortunately not wheelchair accessible due to steep slipway, and narrow access not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather and unfortunately dogs are not welcome at this event.

This is a free event and booking is not needed. For further information email justin.seedhouse@nationaltrust.org.uk or telephone 01237 441976
