Tavistock's Meadows is the town's centrally-located park, a veritable oasis and this is where the local families head as soon as the sun peeks through the clouds and there's loads of fun to be had.

For the kids the whole park is an adventure playground with freebie rides and slides and is a nice, safe place to have a family day out. For the sedentary folks you can feed the ducks and swans on the canal. For the more active there's a popular BMX track, the Meadowlands Leisure Pool and the tennis courts.

For eats you can bring your own picnic and enjoy it on the well-kept grassy bits or at one of the trestled wooden benches, otherwise grab a snack from the little kiosk.
