One of the "must do" attractions that visitors to the South Hams should experience while on holiday here is the Dartmouth Steam Railway & River Boat Company.

Dartmouth Steam Railway steam trains travel seven miles along the most spectacular South Devon coast down into the Dart valley and on to the beautiful village of Kingswear which sits proudly opposite the port of Dartmouth.

Dartmouth River Boats operate on the stunning river Dart with daily scheduled services to the historic town of Totnes & Dittisham and 1hr river cruises. We also offer regular services to/from Torquay, Brixham, Paignton (with our partner PPC) and Salcombe.

We are also the proud operators of the last remaining coal fired paddle steamer in the UK - the beautiful paddle steamer ‘Kingswear Castle’. This historic paddle steamer is running on her home waters of the River Dart once more. She was built in 1924 at Philip & Son of Dartmouth and plied her trade between Totnes and Dartmouth until 1965 (her engines are even older, dating back to 1904, eight years before the sinking of the Titanic). In her heyday when this impressive ship was the life blood of the river Dart, she could carry almost 500 passengers.
