GHOST HUNT SLEEPOVER AT TORQUAY MUSEUM - Torquay Museum

GHOST HUNT SLEEPOVER AT TORQUAY MUSEUM

    Date: 23 June 2018 - 24 June 2018

    8pm Saturday 23rd - 8am Sunday 24th June

This is a rare opportunity to experience a Ghost Hunt Sleepover at Torquay Museum. Only a few ghost hunting groups have previously slept over at the Museum, bedding down in the gallery next to its human mummy.

Run by highly experienced ghost hunting group, Gatekeepers Paranormal, visitors will be able to be part of a lights-out investigation of a building with a lot of recent paranormal activity, and its own Ancient Egyptian mummy.

During previous highly eventful paranormal evenings at the Museum there have been photographs taken of apparitions, fingerprints were discovered on the inside of a mummy case which hadn't been opened in years and a 300 year old crib rocked of its own accord. In October of 2016, CCTV cameras caught leaflets and books inexplicably flying off the shelves in the Museum’s shop.

If you have ever wanted to try your hand at ghost hunting but don't know where to start, then now is your chance to explore the ghostly side of one of Torquay’s most iconic buildings, led by the highly experienced group, Gatekeepers Paranormal, who will use a wide range of techniques to communicate with the spirit world.

All proceeds from this Ghost Hunt Sleepover will go to Torquay Museum in order to help conserve and display its large, varied and internationally important collections spanning 400 million years.

Tickets for the sleepover are £30 each, to include a DIY breakfast. To book your tickets either call Torquay Museum on 01803 293975 or visit the Gatekeepers Paranormal Eventbrite page for this event.

Fans of LEGO®, big and small, are in for a rare treat this summer as a large and exciting exhibition, entitled Brick Built, goes on show at Torquay Museum, showcasing some amazing and enormous models made entirely of LEGO® bricks.

The Brick Built exhibition has been especially created for Torquay Museum by LEGO® artist Warren Elsmore. Visitors can enjoy a celebration of architecture from three of the world’s great cities: New York, Paris and London. They can also discover a selection of the wonders of the world in miniature: historic, modern and natural.

A huge 8 metre airport will form the centrepiece of this stunning exhibition, complete with aircraft, runways, airport buildings and vehicles – the first time this impressive model has been displayed in the UK. There will also be a large scale model of the Forth Road Bridge, hot air balloons, a perfectly executed enormous model of the Palace of Westminster, a huge tug boat, the Eiffel Tower and even Torquay Pavilion, all made in Lego bricks with a great deal of imagination.

The Brick Built Lego models exhibition includes lots of interactive elements so that families can have hands-on fun. Torquay Museum is the unique setting for an exciting and unusual fully interactive Ancient Egyptian Murder Mystery evening. A priceless Egyptian artefact has been stolen - the Stone of Amenhotep. A murder has been committed. Is this the infamous Curse of Amenhotep or is it a robbery gone wrong?

At the end of the evening the teams will come together to see which is the first to solve the mystery of the missing Stone of Amenhotep and discover the identity of the murderer.

There will be five groups of 6 or 7 people at each event, but don’t worry if your group isn't that big as the Museum will put people into teams.
