Our Journey Underwater...

Visit the UK's largest aquarium and be amazed at our fascinating underwater world and how we all play a part in conserving it.

Your journey will take you across the world's oceans, from the shores of Plymouth to the coral reefs of the tropics. Our hosts deliver an action-packed talk schedule, including our not-to-be-missed interactive dive shows daily.

From our shores your adventure begins

Start your journey by taking a new look at Plymouth Sound, an internationally important marine environment in the heart of our city. Just take in the view from our windows and you'll get a taste of the wide range of activity on, in and beside the Sound. But Plymouth Sound is much more than a shipping lane; let us show you around beneath the surface to explore this vibrant and varied undersea landscape.
In the shallow waters of Plymouth Sound you'll find an array of animals that would grace the finest rockpool you could hope to find - Hermit Crabs and Lobsters; the ubiquitous Tompot Blenny; a colourful collection of Anemones, Starfish, Sea Fans and even small Sharks. Elsewhere in this zone you'll find a clutch of cephalopods including Octopuses and Cuttlefish and a surprising variety of shellfish.

Your beautiful blue world

The Blue Planet zone completes your journey as we "zoom out" to look at the vast interconnected global oceans and introduce some of the most beautiful and compelling marine animals from around the world. Remember, 72% of our planet is blue and we rely completely on the ocean for our existence and lifestyle. It's vital that we each do what we can to sustain healthy, living seas around the world. BioZone showcases the incredible biodiversity in the oceans and the relationships between all living things. These relationships are finely tuned and therefore man's interaction can have a huge impact, not only by wiping out one species but by affecting a whole ecosystem. However, we can be positive and, with relatively small actions, make a big difference to the health and future prosperity of our oceans.
