Modbury is a small town dating from the 8th century located in a region known as the South Hams surrounded by rolling hills, wooded glades and winding country lanes.

Making an attractive base for a holiday or short break, Modbury is ideally situated to explore the South Hams region. Sandy beaches are to be found at Bigbury-on-Sea just 3 miles to the south where one can explore or secluded Wonwell Beach. The edge of Dartmoor, awesome, beautiful and mysterious is only 5 miles to the north with its dramatic open spaces is always a popular tourist destination.

Modbury offers a superb range of independent shops, accomodation, art and crafts, supermarkets, galleries, tourist information and local produce and became world famous in 2007 when it became the first town in the world to declare itself plastic bag free.
