We are open throughout the year, but from March 31st to October 27th you can enjoy a light lunch, homemade cakes and temptingly delicious cream teas from our tearoom during your visit. Discover outstanding parkland and explore winding pathways, majestic terraces and beautiful woodland. Wonder through ancient speicimen trees along tranquil paths. Terraced walks showcase stunning parkland views whilst follies, temples and statues all built by different generations over the years and maintained to this day adorn the vistas. Stroll by the river to the Ugley bridge and Satyrs' Tempole then climb to the hilltop Sham Castle giving panoramic views to Exmoor, Dartmoor and beyond. Youngsters and four legged friends on leads are welcome to explore the vast acreage. Younger visitors can be directed to Tanglewood Tree for an exhilarating climb on one of the oldest trees in the garden. An ideal location to bring the family for a picnic, let the children run free, explore and learn in a safe environment.

"Shakespeare’s Macbeth is one of the greatest tragic dramas the world has known. Macbeth himself, a brave warrior, is fatally impelled by supernatural forces, by his proud wife, and by his own burgeoning ambition. As he embarks on his murderous course to gain and retain the crown of Scotland, we see the appalling emotional and psychological effects on both Lady Macbeth and himself. The cruel ironies of their destiny are conveyed in poetry of unsurpassed power. In the theatre, this tragedy remains perennially engrossing." Professor Cedric Watts
Castle Hill and the Plough Arts theatre bring this open air theatre production to you this in Summer 2019. Please see our website for further information and booking details in Spring 2019.
