The Horse Drawn Barge

Now one of the last remaining Horse-Drawn Barges in the UK, a trip on the “Tivertonian” offers a truly unique and memorable experience of yesteryear for you and your family to enjoy ! This beautiful wide beam, 75 seater Horse-Drawn Barge also available for Private Hire during the Day and Evenings. 

The Floating Ducks Ditty Cafe Bar

The Ducks Ditty is relaxed and friendly, light and airy, ‘al fresco’ on the canal bank, located only a stones throw from the Horse-Drawn Barge.  

Relax, socialise and enjoy the unique and tranquil delights of the Ducks Ditty Café Bar, permanently moored at Tiverton Wharf on the banks of the Grand Western Canal.  Step aboard and enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, The Ducks Ditty is a genuine artisan coffee house with trained baristers – Espresso, Cappuccino, Latte or Mocha, alongside tempting sweet and savoury treats.

Should you prefer something a little stronger The Ducks Ditty is also fully licenced, with a range of great wines to tickle your taste buds, available by the glass, and even better by the bottle!, also a selection of local and not-so-local beers and ales.

Boat Hire

Tiverton Canal Company offers a range of Hire Boats, available hourly, they include; Motor Powered Self Drive Day Boats, Canadian Canoes and Rowing Boats. The Grand Western Canal supports a rich and vibrant variety of wildlife and interesting things to see. All the hire boats provide a great opportunity for you to get close to nature and explore and canal at your own pace.

Besides our own dogs and horses that spend much of their time on or near the towpath, the Grand Western Canal is a Local Nature Reserve and teaming with wildlife and things to do and see.
